The Lion And The Mouse

A Lion was sleeping peacefully when he was woken by something running up and down his back and over his face.

Pretending to be still asleep, the Lion slowly opened one eye and saw that it was a little mouse.

With lightening speed the Lion reached out and caught the little mouse in one of his large paws. He dangled it by its tail and roared, “I’m the King of Beasts! You’ll pay with your life for showing me such disrespect.”

The Fox And The Crow Fables

In this fable a crow has found a piece of cheese and retired to a branch to eat it. A fox, wanting it for himself, flatters the crow, calling it beautiful and wondering whether its voice is as sweet to match. When it lets out a caw, the cheese falls and is devoured by the fox.

Folk and fairy tales are stories written specially for children, often about magical characters such as elves, fairies, goblins and giants. Sometimes the characters are animals.

Hans Christian Andersen is famous for writing fairy tales. He was born in Denmark in 1805. Examples of his stories are “The Little Mermaid”, “Thumbelina” and “The Red Shoes”.

In Copenhagen there is a statue of the little mermaid, sitting on a rock on the beach at the harbour, in memory of the writer.

What Is Fables Defintions

Before this you have read the definitions about myth and legend and now I will answer the questions about what is fables?, what is the definitions of fables?.

A fable is another type of story, also passed down from generation to generation and told to teach a lesson about something.

Fables are about animals that can talk and act like people, or plants or forces of nature like thunder or wind. The plants may be able to move and also talk and the natural forces cause things to happen in the story because of their strength.
